On Wednesday 10 November, Plus Architecture took part in The Property Industry SleepOut in Brisbane.
Each year, this event raises vital funds for youth homelessness and brings people together to better understand youth homelessness and what we can do about it.
There are 4,500 young people in Queensland each night who are without safe and secure housing. They are either without a shelter of any kind, sleeping rough; with a place to sleep but temporarily in institutions or shelter; living in insecure housing– threatened with severe exclusion due to insecure tenancies, eviction, domestic violence; or living in inadequate housing – in caravans on illegal campsites, in unfit housing, in extreme overcrowding.
Chrisney Formosa, Matt Kan, Trent Steiner, Bethany Heidenreich, Maddison Grisdale, Finley Mijnarends, Sarah Fleming, Jessica Gabele, Jin Wang, Nina Ilijasevic, Darcy Harrison, Sam McLintock and Ally Molachino gave up their beds for one night, raising $6,785 and smashing their $5,000 goal.
We’re so proud of our team, these funds will help build a Property Industry Foundation (PIF) house for homeless or at-risk youth in Queensland.
Many thanks to PIF for organising this fun and important event to help break the cycle of youth homelessness.
