Plus Architecture has announced two major promotions across its east coast studios, bolstering its leadership team with dynamic talent as part of a long-term commitment to supporting and elevating talented individuals in the architecture and design industry.
Set to play a leading role in the delivery of Plus Architecture’s continued growth in the Asia-Pacific region, Chrisney Formosa and Zach Kwong have both been elevated to the role of Principal.
With more than 12 years of experience, Formosa’s commitment to creating unique and beautiful design outcomes has been instrumental in shaping Plus Architecture’s Brisbane and Gold Coast studios’ reputation for delivering high-end architectural solutions across multi-residential, hospitality and tourism sectors.
A highly skilled designer, Formosa has led more than 60 development applications in Queensland in the last two years, with standout projects including Palm Beach Hotel, The Esplanade (Palm Beach) and Chairlift (Mermaid Beach).
Plus Architecture Director Danny Juric said he was thrilled that Plus Architecture has fostered an environment that enables talent like Formosa to quickly rise to key leadership positions, recognised for their valuable contributions not only within the practice but also to the broader industry.
“Chrisney’s dynamite leadership style and commitment to growing Plus Architecture’s brand and design legacy across Queensland is an inspiration to the team every day. With Queensland set to experience rapid growth over the next ten years ahead of the 2032 Olympic Games, this position will see Chrisney playing an instrumental role in delivering exceptional design projects across the state,” Juric said.
Based in Sydney, Kwong is an accomplished architect with a blend of skills and technical knowledge spanning architectural practice, building services and sustainable design. Across a 15-year career, he has designed and delivered major projects across the residential, retail, commercial, education, aviation, defence and health sectors, including Scape Kensington and Scape Ascot.
Plus Architecture Director Amit Julka said Kwong’s promotion is an acknowledgement of his technical expertise as well as the mentorship and support that he offers to his teams and the studio as a whole.
"Zach is always there to guide staff through the challenges of project delivery in a manner that exemplifies the Plus Architecture tradition of the imparting of knowledge and experience without favour – this spirit of altruism is the reason why so many of our young staff are so keen to work and learn from him. We look forward to the role that Zach will play in further elevating the systems, processes and quality of the office," Julka said.
With studios across Australia and New Zealand, Plus Architecture are industry leaders in master planning and city making, multi-residential, commercial and mixed-use developments, currently further developing its transport, infrastructure, health and wellness sectors.
The practice is currently celebrating its 25th anniversary, reflecting on a quarter decade of award-winning design and looking toward continuing to deliver impactful design across the Asia-Pacific region as it enters the next quarter-century.
