Addressing the growing demand for quality homes and services for seniors in the Far North Coast
Uniting has plans to transform its Kingscliff residential aged care home into a contemporary seniors community, a vision designed by Plus Architecture.
We are deeply invested in this project because it's about more than just architecture; it's about enhancing seniors’ physical, emotional, and social wellbeing.
Uniting identified a growing demand for quality homes and services for seniors on New South Wales’ Far North Coast and our masterplan aims to meet this need head-on. Our vision is to create a welcoming environment that enriches the lives of residents, clients, and visitors alike.
Spanning across Kingscliff Street and Lorien Way, the proposed seniors community will consist of seven buildings with 199 Independent Living Units and 120 Residential Aged Care places.
We've prioritised spacious communal areas, including landscaped gardens, outdoor rooms, and shaded rooftop courtyards. Additionally, the seniors wellness centre will feature a pool, gym, library, cinema, hairdresser, and day spa to ensure comprehensive care.
Sustainability is at the heart of our design ethos. We've incorporated climate-responsive architecture, solar initiatives, and EV charging points to promote eco-friendly living. Moreover, we're committed to honouring Indigenous heritage through our Connecting with Country framework, which includes embedding Bundjalung design principles and fostering ongoing community engagement.
The linear green corridor not only enhances the site's aesthetics but also serves as a practical solution for stormwater management, mitigating flood risks. From ground water recharge to stormwater conveyance and quality treatment, our solutions ensure environmental resilience.
In essence, Uniting Kingscliff embodies Plus’s holistic approach to senior living, blending architectural innovation, sustainability, and cultural sensitivity to create a thriving seniors community.
