Preserving heritage and redefining luxury by transforming a historic Post Office into a captivating hotel.
Plus Architecture's fourth hotel design for Safari Group embodies a captivating vision that combines historical homage with contemporary luxury.
This exceptional project focuses on preserving the original facade and structure of the former Palmerston North post office building, adding a new chapter to its storied existence.
When it first opened on February 5, 1906, the post office was renowned as one of the grandest in the country. Plus Architecture recognises its magnificent bones and strives to reinstate its grandeur while breathing new life into the space.
The forthcoming TRYP Palmerston North hotel will elevate Palmerston North's hospitality offerings, providing a 4.5-star experience in its 86 thoughtfully designed rooms.
Plus Architecture's design philosophy aims to retain the charm and character of the original 1905 Edwardian building, restoring the old post office to its former splendour.
Heritage elements will be restored to ensure their timeless appeal endures. Behind this captivating exterior, a five-storey hotel will seamlessly integrate with the building's historic fabric. This will be achieved through a joint, double-height glazed atrium, serving as the hotel's entry lobby.
The hotel will go beyond mere accommodation, featuring amenities such as retail spaces, a health spa, gym, and conference facilities. By bringing this world-class hotel brand to the city centre, we aim to invigorate and enhance the urban landscape.
With meticulous restoration and the introduction of modern amenities, this landmark project will celebrate the past, create a thriving destination for the present, and leave a lasting legacy for future generations to cherish.
