The Peak is located at the very heart of Melbourne and forms a dramatic pinnacle within the urban fabric of the city.
The striking eastern façade, comprising triangular forms and abstract shapes, creates a signature building in this part of town. With its striking jagged peak towering above, the edge to the glass tower forms a sharp triangular point, framing views over the city skyline and Carlton Gardens beyond.
The tight, rectangular site has a distinctive location that spans from busy La Trobe Street through to the pedestrian orientated Bennetts Lane. The 43-level development, offering 177 individual residences, creates a clear transition between La Trobe Street and Bennetts Lane by connecting these two thoroughfares with an activated pedestrian linkage at ground level. This fine grain laneway pays homage to what was once the location of Bennetts Lane Jazz Club and is accessible to everyone 24 hours a day, making a connection and contribution to the public domain and urban fabric of Melbourne.
The design focus was to create the highest quality of luxury apartment living with an engaging eastern façade providing uninterrupted views to Carlton Gardens and beyond. The light glazed tower is grounded to the urban fabric of La Trobe Street by the contrasting robust podium design. A slab profile of simplicity and clarity provides consideration of design, constructability, and quality. The crystalline façade generates a movement and rhythm that is constantly changing from sunrise to sunset.
For residents at The Peak, the pleasure not only comes from the unrivaled views, but also the quality of the individual apartment fit-outs. Generous open plan kitchen, living and dining areas all benefit from floor-to-ceiling glass windows that allow for unimpeded sight lines. As considered are the quality of finishes used, with timber floors and stone benches in kitchen and wet areas, creating the finest in contemporary living. Generous storage areas, in both kitchens and in bedrooms, also make scaling down from the family home that much more manageable. However, rather than the endless list of daily tasks associated with a detached house in the suburbs, these low-maintenance abodes allow time to be spent on more pleasurable pursuits.
Ideally situated in one of the best and most liveable cities in the world providing limitless opportunity to learn, grow, work, live and experience all that Melbourne has on offer, The Peak is located at the very heart of it all.
