On the shores of Scarborough Beach and 11km away from central Perth, The Beach Shack inherits its unique place and character through design. A nod to the ocean nearby, a spot favoured by surfers from across the city, the organic shape of each slab is inspired by the proportions of a surfboard and the subtle curves of the façade reference white breakers whipped up by the afternoon sea breeze. The expression of each floor plate through wave like edging creates a layered and rich elevation.
The 99 luxury residences were designed by Plus Architecture to optimise beach front living, providing amenities throughout that speak to their beach-loving residents. An emphasis was placed on developing a location-specific design which added to the locale as well as delivering a development which prioritised safety and amenity for residents. The design approach sculpted the building down to the ground level, allowing greater interaction with the natural surrounds and improving ease of access. The ground plan and slab edges are illuminated with specialist lighting to create a rich and safe experience after sunset.
Resident amenities are second to none, including outdoor BBQs and fire pits, designated surfboard and kayak storage facilities and higher car parking limits to accommodate surfboard or bike holding racks. The Beach Shack is targeted towards those who love the al-fresco lifestyle but still want to return home to comfort and serenity at the end of the day.
This multi-residential building has pushed boundaries with keyless biometric entry to apartment doors, an automated smart car parking system and a dedicated building management app for residents that controls lighting, air-conditioning, intercom and access control – allowing residents the ability to fully embrace their beach lifestyle.
The apartment interiors are clean and sophisticated, with a clear coastal influence. The ability to customise apartment finishes is provided to residents so they can truly make the place their own.
