Scape Ascot is a 9 storey student accommodation development located within the developing Kensington to Kingsford Corridor in the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney.
The site is greatly connected to the city via the Anzac Parade Light rail corridor and is also within walking distance to UNSW. The building features a highly activated communal ground plane oriented to the street, the Right of Way, and the rear pocket plaza. The upper floors contain student accommodation rooms, largely catering to scholars and post-graduates.
The built form is composed of a podium and tower expression. The four storey podium extends boundary to boundary, reflecting a future street wall configuration with future context. Its masonry expression reinforces the brick character of Kensington and is defined by angled blades to control sight lines. The tower form above is set back to create relief and provides opportunity for generous balconies and landscaping. The tower is a sculpted glass and metal façade, angled to create privacy with the future built context
