Providing a stylish, convenient, and connected lifestyle.

Located in Perth’s leafy Subiaco, the Olive Street mixed-use development by Devwest Group consists of 71 apartments designed to suit the sensibilities of the urban dweller with a village lifestyle.

With the exterior originally designed by MJA, Plus Architecture was commissioned to deliver the fully realised architecture and design the interiors, including a full-scale design review and collaboration with our contractor and the developer. The end result is a well-considered and crafted project with excellent design at its very core.

With an unrivalled focus on details and a keen understanding of the site and potential buyer, Plus Architecture has created liveable and useable spaces designed to enhance and complement the residents’ lifestyles.

“The apartments are designed for life - carefully designed as a canvas that the owners can add their unique stamp on the space,” says Giordana Vizzari, Associate at Plus Architecture.

“The kitchen, living and dining spaces are free-flowing, warm and inviting, catering to both the homebody and the entertainer”, she says.

The interiors take ample cues from the refined industrial character of the building. Texture breathes life into the space with natural timbers, as matte concrete benchtops and timber floor finishes enhance tactile quality. The urban palette is light and airy with a subtle edginess. There is an abundance of natural light and openness with views harnessed where possible, looking out onto the leafy streets of Subiaco and Kings Park to Perth City.

While these thoughtfully designed apartments are the crux of this outstanding project, Olive Street is layered in its offering. The development includes a gymnasium, a business hub, and a range of internal and external dining and lounging spaces. Connectivity and community are at the helm of the amenity spaces with areas to work, pause, play and entertain with seamless links to the interior and exterior.

The business hub is an elevation to the ‘work from home’ concept, boasting a fully equipped conference room as well as private, focused video conferencing suites with collaborative areas to meet and work.  The gymnasium is equipped for a range of wellness activities with inside/outside connectivity to the tranquil gardens. The communal kitchen and lounge are the perfect place to entertain, fully equipped with integrated appliances, wine cellar, multimedia lounge space and dining area which connects seamlessly to the outdoor dining and lounge space.

We were also engaged to complete an interior design concept for a café on the ground floor. This design is underpinned by industrial materiality with exposed services and raw tactile finishes that give each space a modern edginess, while a restrained tonal palette adds softness and cultivates an inviting and relaxing environment.

Each communal moment has been considered as experiential, and landscaping by See Design goes a long way in achieving this. The landscape complements the surrounding character of Subiaco with high quality, long-wearing materials and lush planting. The communal fire pit offers a refuge from the cold and space to gather with friends on balmy nights – nestled within lush greenery.
