An upcoming residential development designed by Plus Architecture that embodies leafy, luxurious apartment living.
229 Kingsway consists of 13 carefully crafted apartments with a variety of typologies including lush garden apartments and two-storey penthouse apartments.
Carefully becoming part of the neighbourhood and taking advantage of the rich landscape lush with nature, the architectural language builds on the character of Caringbah in the Sutherland Shire of southern Sydney.
Plus Architecture Director Rido Pin says the design approach was very much about understanding the context of this quiet pocket and understandably coveted spot.
“As with all Plus projects, we ensure that building expression is not just a human gesture by the architect but rather the considered response that takes cues from the surrounding context – drawing it into the edges and layers, materialising through scale, rhythm, colour or proportion,” says Pin.
The development sits on the corner of peaceful Wallumatta Road. Braced by mature trees, a leafy transition is created into quiet living environments, away from Kingsway and the busier Cronulla area.
Both the existing trees as well as new layers of landscaping frame this sculptural building, as it carefully touches the ground plane to create new greenscape settings for the ground floor apartments.
With warm and textural qualities, the brickwork, angled expressions and rich steel detailing are continued within the building’s interiors and apartments.
The building orientation allows for all apartments to be cross-ventilated and receive ample daylight to reinforce the wellbeing aspects of this design. All apartments share a lobby that is also abundant with natural light, airflow and leafy views.
The generous and communal north-facing rooftop garden embraces the community aspirations of this building with a variety of amenity and convenience.
