A place for people to gather, connect, and participate within one of Sydney’s iconic thoroughfares.
The City of Sydney will ease development controls that could introduce 53,000 sqm of new employment and cultural space to Oxford Street as part of plans to breathe life back into the once-thriving strip.
The amalgamated opportunity site allows for development of a 5 storey form which will create a marker at this key corner site.
The concept design, as part of the sales process for this site, proposes the restoration of the historic Three Weeds Hotel facade (Rose Shamrock & Thistle Hotel) and the redevelopment of its neighbour the Arts Hotel, which together are carefully composed to create the optimal outcome from both an urban design response as well as the public domain.
A new cultural multipurpose space in the lower ground floor adds to the cultural agenda for this unique corridor. A seamless and unique roof form unifies the composition, presenting the ability for the architecture to contribute to the dynamic and artistic ambition of Oxford Street.
