A new hospitality destination to bolster Orange’s tourism growth

Marking a significant milestone in the region's tourism growth, our designs will transform a heritage site at the southeastern gateway of Orange's town centre into a contemporary hospitality destination that celebrates the region's character. The design includes 7,400 sqm over six storeys, incorporating 117 service apartments, conference facilities, a hotel restaurant, pool garden facility and retail spaces activating both street frontages.

Our architectural response integrates with both Peisley and McNamara Streets through a two-storey masonry interpretation of the retained facade. Upper levels feature setbacks with a lightweight contemporary facade, while McNamara Street incorporates refined balconies that reference traditional verandas.

Drawing inspiration from Orange's industrial roots and wine industry, the materiality features earthy tones, textural brickwork, fine-grain detailing, and profiled bronze columns. A sophisticated mansard design crowns the building, harmonising with Orange's skyline.A new public laneway between Peisley and McNamara Streets creates a vibrant community space, framed by two-storey brick arched gateways.

The design incorporates passive design elements, energy-efficient systems, and Building Management System optimisation. Guest experience is central to the design, with every room featuring a private balcony, abundant natural light, and views across Orange. Additional features include photovoltaic panels, LED lighting, water-sensitive design and native landscaping.

In alignment with Orange City Council's "Future City Project" and master plan objectives, Director, Rido Pin comments, "As a practice, we're focused on creating places that evolve with their communities. In regional centres like Orange, we see incredible opportunities to design spaces that support local aspirations while attracting visitors who want to experience authentic Australian destinations."
