Designed to create a community, this urban renewal project will create a unique precinct with a strong emphasis on the public domain and shared space.

Just one kilometre from the Brisbane CBD, West Village by developer Sekisui House covers 2.6 hectares of land and will comprise of eight contemporary apartment buildings alongside entertainment and retail hubs including parklands, an art gallery, restaurants, speciality stores, a gym and cafes.

The Arcadia North and South residential towers designed by Plus Architecture consist of a twin tower configuration over a shared podium located along the western edge of the West End precinct.

The development offers 163 apartments across two fifteen storey residential towers with larger style apartments to accommodate families desiring the comforts and amenities of apartment living.

Plus Architecture Director Amit Julka says Arcadia’s architecture is distinctive, contextual and sustainable.

“Its multi-award-winning design is based on the belief that natural ecosystems enhance the living environment,” Julka said.

Australian fashion designer Akira Isogawa helped guide the design concept, drawing his design cues from nature and combining them with a nod to his Japanese heritage and a sense of tranquility, space and beauty in the luxe apartments.

Targeted at the owner-occupier market, Arcadia features a mix of predominantly two and three bedroom apartments that are significantly larger than the industry average.

The design proposal was predicated on the idea of how the building’s architecture could respond in a single gesture to the multiple considerations inherent in the site. The buildings needed to open themselves up to the envious city skyline views to the north, protect the occupants from strong westerly sun and respond to issues of building proximity and privacy.

The ground level houses the resident lobbies and, across the podium where most of the communal areas are positioned, residents can experience landscaped areas that are generous, tailored to thrive in the environment they sit in, create moments of delight and invite frequent and sustained use.

Responding to Brisbane’s tropical climate, SJB created interior spaces that are timeless with a calm and relaxed atmosphere.
