Plus imagined this development as a physical manifestation of Brisbane’s unique social, cultural and commercial attributes.

Brisbane’s archetypal Queenslander-style homes come complete with obligatory verandas; covered outdoor zones that act as natural extensions of the internal living areas. At Queen George, Plus created a veranda for the city centre – beneath which the community can gather to shop, dine or relax in new open spaces while looking out over the Brisbane River or simply seek respite from the city’s subtropical climate.

Two distinctly different gestures define the Queen George building in Brisbane. First is the podium – a sharply angular structure that curves out over the street, almost like a giant veranda for the Brisbane community to gather beneath. Second is the tower – an effortlessly elegant structure with a sleek, gently twisting form. Together, these two gestures signal the presence of a new activity centre at the confluence of Brisbane’s cultural, civic and retail districts, and by the banks of the Brisbane River.

Above the podium, with its fine-grain human scale details, the striking tower soars to a height of 274 metres. At the street level, Queen George embraces the joys of living in Brisbane. At its full height, Queen George embraces the essence of a confident city on the rise.
