A sculptural and sympathetic addition to this coastal location.

As executive architect, Plus Architecture played an integral role in the documentation and delivery of Norfolk - a mixed-use development on Queensland's Gold Coast with design by Koichi Takada Architects and interiors by Mim Design.

Architect Koichi Takada describes Norfolk’s sculptural façade as referencing the inner workings of Norfolk pines, found readily growing in this region of Australia.

“Just like their pinecones protect the seeds from bad weather and open when in ideal natural settings, Norfolk’s architecture can be adapted to protect residents from the elements or opened up to take in the 300 days of subtropical sunshine and stunning natural surroundings,” says Takada.

Koichi Takada Architects designed Norfolk to appreciate the best aspect of ultimate beachfront living.

Across 10 storeys, Norfolk houses 15 apartments, two penthouses with rooftop pools and a ground floor of wellbeing spaces including a gym, pool and sauna.

Commencing with the development application design, Plus Architecture was involved in the design detailing and aesthetic resolution, ensuring the technical, services and structural aspects of this complex development were cohesively resolved with Hutchinson Builders from design to construction.
