Designed to make a notable, positive contribution to Perth’s existing transport infrastructure, Plus Architecture worked with METRONET to deliver projects for Midland Station and the Byford Rail Extension.

Midland Station
The existing Midland Station was relocated so that it is more fully integrated in this urban area, providing improved proximity to the Midland Gate Shopping Centre and Midland Health Campus. Centered on a new planned location between Helena and Cale Streets, Plus Architecture developed proposals for a modern rail and bus interchange that enabled connection to the new Bellevue Train Depot & Assembly Facility while also promoting safe pedestrian access through the station precinct. The project was developed with lead consultant Aecom and Hames Sharley driving the urban design component.

Byford Rail Extension
Plus Architecture worked with lead consultant Aecom and Hames Sharley on the station concept and transit precinct proposals to extend the Armadale Line approximately eight kilometres south to Byford. The early planning and design concepts considered station location, precinct development opportunities, pedestrian and multi-modal transport connections, constructability and community impact. The aim of the work for METRONET was to identify the preferred location and alignment for the extension so that it supported economic and employment growth in the area, while catalysing opportunities for new residential development.
