Designed to surpass the current world standard for aviation travel in both design and technical innovation.

Plus Architecture’s competition entry for a master plan which facilitates the future expansion of the Fixed-Base Operator facilities at Melbourne International Airport to accommodate future growth.

The facility was to surpass the current world standard for aviation travel in both design and technological innovation and become a benchmark for the future of the aviation industry.

The precinct was to be located in a separate, discrete location at Melbourne International Airport Tullamarine away from the busy main terminals. The competition entry required substantial analysis of the location.

Plus Architecture’s proposed design response for the building was futuristic. Inspired by surrealism and sculptural in form, the design presented a floating canopy which appears to hover above the landscape – a reference to future technology and the transition between land and air.
