The first development in Sydney’s tightly held central business district for Plus, Goulburn Street Hotel benefits from three street frontages in the heart of the city.

The 155-room hotel, spread over 18 storeys, aligns with the overall contextual urban form of the existing city fabric – engaging with the street frontages and adjacent heritage buildings. Prior to design, Plus researched the area deeply, creating a design that spoke of the finer architectural grain of the city’s past.

Plus embedded the design into this prominent corner site with its thoughtful use of materials. Profiled concrete in a sandstone hue is expressed for the exterior, with the crown constructed with bronze aluminium panels framed by frosted glass fins. These blades also cut an impressive swathe through the sandstone-coloured concrete, further anchoring Goulburn Street Hotel to its unique corner in the city.

The hotel’s interior scheme is finely curated, with the hotel lobby animating the public domain and those strolling along the pavement. Copper and metallic finishes within the lobby accentuate the light and add a sense of richness to the interior. While Plus are mindful of the heritage-listed neighbours, Goulburn Street Hotel presents a brave and contemporary expression to the streetscape.
